Counselling for Adolescents
Adolescence is a time of change. New research is showing that the adolescent brain is developing even faster than it did in infancy. While it is normal for teens to experience some questions regarding their identity, emotions, and place in the world, some experience more stress than others or are faced with challenging life circumstances. Wheatland County Counselling is able to offer an array approaches in both Strathmore and Drumheller that will help adolescents grow and thrive.
At times a comforting presence and empathetic ear can make all the difference. Traditional talk therapy can help individuals process their experiences assist with integrating emotions into a healthier, more balanced self.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the premise that thoughts ultimately have the biggest impact on our feelings (rather than the events we experience). Cognitive behavioural therapy helps individuals identify faulty thinking patterns and allows for healthier thinking styles and better management of emotions.
There are times when words are not enough to help us explain our feelings or process a situation or event. Expressive therapies are alternative ways of expressing oneself, and are often combined with other talk therapies. Expressive techniques offered by Wheatland County Counselling include sand tray therapy and art.
