Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the premise that it is our thoughts relative to our experiences, not our actual experiences, that influence our feelings. Cognitive behavioural therapy helps individuals identify faulty thinking patterns (aka cognitive distortions) and allows for healthier thinking styles and better management of emotions.
There are times when words are not enough to help us explain our feelings or process a situation or event. Expressive therapies are alternative ways of expressing oneself, and are often combined with other talk therapies. Expressive techniques include sand tray and art.
