REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST

Brittany Underhill

I’m Brittany (Brit) Underhill, a Registered Psychologist and the Director-Owner of Wheatland County Counselling. I chose to take on the leadership of WCC in 2023 because I care deeply about the Strathmore and Drumheller communities and wanted to continue building a space where people feel safe, supported, and respected in their journey. My hope is that every client feels heard and empowered as we work together toward meaningful change.

I work with adolescents, teens, and adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and sexuality. My approach is collaborative and down-to-earth. I draw on Emotion-Focused and Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I’m also trained in trauma (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and sexuality-focused counselling and hold Level One certification in the Gottman Method for marriage counselling.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients in a variety of settings—from private practice in Vancouver, to working with women at the Alouette Correctional Centre, and later with Alberta Health Services as a Children’s Mental Health Therapist and Addiction Counsellor. Each of these experiences has shaped my belief that therapy should be both compassionate and practical, tailored to each person’s needs.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Queen’s University. I’m known for being warm, laid back, and nonjudgmental. I bring a realistic and approachable style that helps people feel comfortable, understood, and genuinely heard.
